Bremer Bank is Taking Action Against Hunger

Join Bremer June 11 and 13 for two special events supporting Second Harvest Heartland

St. Paul, Minn. - June 1, 2009 - Bremer Bank is holding its fourth annual ‘Taking Action Against Hunger’ campaign June 1-30, raising funds for Second Harvest Heartland. The timing of the Bremer campaign recognizes the growing need for food during the summer months, when more families utilize food shelves as children are home from school and do not have access to subsidized meal programs.

“Bremer’s vision is to build healthy communities through partnerships,” said Steve Meads, chief executive officer and president of Bremer Bank Twin Cities. “We believe we can achieve this vision by meeting basic needs in our communities, and ending hunger seems like a great place to start. We invite everybody in the community to help us take action to end hunger. Thanks for your valued partnership and effort.”

During the month of June, stop by your local Bremer Bank, make a donation online at Bremer.com or send a check to: Second Harvest Heartland, attn: Taking Action Against Hunger,1140 Gervais Ave., St. Paul, MN 55109. With a requested minimum donation of $5, you can receive a reusable grocery tote available at all Bremer Bank locations while supplies last. If you donate online or send a check, please bring a copy of your receipt or check to the bank to receive a reusable grocery tote.

This year, Bremer will be hosting two special events in the Twin Cities to raise awareness for hunger and collect donations. On Thursday, June 11, Bremer will team up with FM107’s Kevyn Burger for a live radio broadcast on Peavey Plaza, from 9-11 a.m. in downtown Minneapolis. Stop for free garden seeds, register to win prizes and receive a reusable grocery tote bag with a minimum $5 donation.

Bremer will also be at the St. Paul Farmer’s Market in Lowertown on Saturday, June 13, from 6 a.m. – 1 p.m. handing out free garden seeds and reusable grocery tote bags for a minimum $5 donation. Additionally, meet KS95’s Moon and Staci from 9-11 a.m. and register to win great prizes.

For every $1 donated, Second Harvest Heartland can provide $9 worth of food and grocery products to local food shelves and families in need. With a $5 donation, the organization can supply 20 individual lunches. The nonprofit is the Upper Midwest’s largest hunger-relief organization serving a 59-county area across Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.
