Bremer Bank Names Verschaetse President/Market Manager

Marshall, Minn. – November 28, 2011 - Bremer Bank has announced that Cindy Verschaetse has been named President/Market Manager for Bremer Bank in Marshall, MN effective December 1, 2011. Roger Madison most recently served in this role, but Madison was named Bremer’s Charter CEO for Southwest Minnesota last spring. That change in job reflected the expanded role and responsibilities that Madison now has for Bremer Bank in Marshall, Willmar, Redwood Falls and the surrounding area.

“As my role evolved, it became apparent that the needs of this market continue to grow and we need dedicated leadership here to respond to that demand,” explained Madison. “Cindy knows this market and its needs better than anyone. She’s got a passion for contributing to the health of this community and she was the right leader to take the reins here on a day-to-day basis.”

Verschaetse has nearly 20 years with Bremer serving in several different roles, most recently as the market’s senior retail manager. She has been on the bank’s Leadership team for seven years and recently expanded her role to manage personal bankers in other locations within the Willmar Charter. Prior to joining Bremer, she worked for eight years for the City of Marshall. A native of Southwestern Minnesota, Verschaetse is an alumna of Southwest Minnesota State University.

An active member of the community, Verschaetse serves on the Junior Achievement Board of Lyon County and the Legacy Foundation. She also served for six years on the Board of United Way of SW MN, serving as President from 2008-2009. She’s also volunteered with the Pride in the Tiger Foundation, Marshall JO volleyball Club, Good Shepherd Lutheran Parish Planning, Marshall YMCA’s Y Partner Community campaign and has coached multiple youth volleyball activities. Verschaetse and her family make their home in Marshall.

"Bremer has exceptional bench strength and Cindy's promotion is a reflection of that," said John Bornhoft, a Bremer Bank community board member. "We are fortunate Roger will continue to have a role in our community, but Cindy will be dedicated 100% to the daily needs of clients in the Marshall market. Our community and our clients deserve that level of attention and service from Bremer.”

In addition to the Verschaetse announcement, Bremer also announced it has promoted Chad Drake to senior vice president of business banking and hired Randy Serreyn to serve as senior vice president of business banking.

Drake has worked at Bremer Bank for 13 years and is currently a Business Banking Team Lead for the Marshall bank. Drake has also been the chairman of the Bremer Ag User Group for the last four years and has served on the Willmar Charter Leadership Team for the past six years. Drake has a diverse background in all aspects of Business and Agricultural Finance and is also a licensed crop insurance specialist. A Tyler, MN native with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business from South Dakota State University, Drake lives in Marshall with his family. Drake has volunteered with a variety of community organizations including the United Way, YMCA, Meals on Wheels, and the Red Cross.

Serreyn most recently worked at Wells Fargo as the community bank president in Marshall. During his 23 years at first Norwest and then Wells, Serreyn held a variety of positions and started his financial career in the leasing industry with Schwan’s Business Credit Leasing of Marshall and Stearns Financial of Albany, MN. A native of Marshall, Serreyn graduated from Southwest State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management, along with a second degree in Marketing. Serreyn is active in the community, currently serving on the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center Board, the Marshall Economic Development Authority Board, and the Southwest Regional Amateur Sports Commission.

“We are extremely fortunate to have both Randy and Chad on the team,” said Verschaetse. “Combined, they have nearly 50 years of banking experience to meet the needs of our clients. Like the rest of our team, they understand the importance of building relationships with our clients and supporting their financial needs.”
