Trade Finance
Bremer partners with a variety of experts to offer you the tools necessary for financing export sales and mitigating the risks inherent in the global marketplace. Our partners include government agencies such as the Small Business Administration, Export-Import Bank of the U.S. (Ex-Im Bank), Minnesota Trade Office, U.S. Department of Commerce/Foreign Commercial Service; as well as private associations and companies, and international correspondent banks.

Pre-Export Working Capital Financing
Bremer offers U.S. government-guaranteed working capital lines of credit to finance the production phase for your products prior to export. This allows Bremer to include as eligible collateral in your borrowing base raw materials, work in process, manufacturing overhead, and finished goods in inventory. Foreign accounts receivable may also be included in the working capital line or as a separate facility. With the government’s 90% guarantee, Bremer assumes the 10% unguaranteed risk and offers attractive advance rates, reasonable fees, and a competitive rate of interest.

  • Small Business Administration
    • For exporters that meet the SBA’s guidelines and require credit lines up to $2 million.
    • No foreign content or military restrictions.
  • Export-Import Bank of the U.S.
    • For exporters and credit lines of all sizes.
    • Must adhere to Ex-Im’s requirements for content, non-military uses and Country Limitation Schedule.

Trade Credit (accounts receivable) Insurance
Bremer understands your need to offer competitive payment and financing terms to overseas buyers while minimizing the risks to your company. By insuring your foreign accounts receivable, you not only can expand your international sales, but also mitigate potential risk of non-payment by your foreign buyer. Export credit insurance not only allows you to extend open payment terms, but also covers up to 95% of commercial and political risks and turns those export accounts receivable into eligible collateral for your borrowing needs. Whether needed to decrease your risks, expand your borrowing capacity, or offer financing to foreign buyers, Bremer offers the appropriate product and structure to meet your needs.

  • Export-Import Bank of the U.S.
    • Offers exporters single buyer and multibuyer policies to cover foreign sales on open-account terms generally up to 180 days.
    • When combined with pre-export working capital lines of credit, export credit insurance protects the exporter from buyer default while the working capital guarantee protects Bremer from exporter default.
    • Sellers of U.S.-made capital equipment to foreign buyers in developing countries can offer repayment terms up to 5 years while getting cash terms shortly after shipment.
  • Private Sector Insurers
    • Offer short-term “spread of risk” policies for key accounts or all clients usually on open terms of 60 to 90 days.
    • Can combine foreign and domestic accounts receivable under one policy to further enhance your borrowing base.
