Kent Christiansen Added as Bremer Institutional Trust Senior Vice President

St. Paul, Minn.

November 2, 2015 - Bremer Institutional Trust has hired Kent Christiansen as senior vice president. Christiansen will serve a key leadership role on the team, overseeing the ERISA retirement plan business line.

Christiansen comes to Bremer with a 20-year background in the financial services industry, most recently as senior vice president at Associated Trust Company. He has in-depth experience as a strategic consultant, as well as with designing and administering retirement plans, and is a seasoned leader who has managed and coached teams for years.

“We are thrilled that Kent has joined the company,” said Mark Schmiel, Bremer Trust president. “His broad base of retirement plan consulting, administration, compliance and management experience will help us further develop our offerings for clients. And his passion for building relationships and coaching teams will be instrumental as we continue to grow.”

In addition to having a Business Administration & Mathematics degree from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls, Christiansen achieved a Qualified Plan Administrator (QPA) designation. He is also involved in a number of organizations, including the Greater Twin Cities American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) Benefits Council, which he helped found in 2010, and the Midwest Pension Council.

Outside of work, Christiansen serves on the board for Ascension Place, a nonprofit organization that provides housing and supportive services to women in crisis. He also enjoys spending time with family, including his wife and two daughters. Christiansen resides in Stillwater and will work out of the Bremer corporate office in downtown St. Paul.
