January 2, 2014 - Each year, Bremer conducts an internal survey to calculate the number of volunteer hours employees donate to their communities. In the ninth annual survey, Bremer employees donated approximately 152,000 volunteer hours which is the equivalent of $3.5 million dollars based on a formula from the Independent Sector, which values an hour of volunteer time at $22.14.
Employees log hundreds and sometimes even thousands of hours in their communities, serving on nonprofit boards, coaching youth sports, distributing meals and many other activities. These volunteer contributions to Bremer communities in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin are in addition to the $38 million in grants given by Bremer’s majority owner, the Otto Bremer Foundation in 2013.
“Everywhere you go in a Bremer Bank community, you will see our employees out volunteering,” said Pat Donovan, president and chief executive officer for Bremer Financial Corporation. “Giving back to our communities is core to what we do at Bremer. I’m so proud of my colleagues!”Bremer Financial Corporation
