Bremer Bank today donated a total of $100,000 to provide immediate support for communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The gift is the result of Bremer Bank’s employee match campaign throughout the month of April and is going to local United Way chapters throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin, including the Greater Twin Cities United Way’s COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund.
“On behalf of our entire team at United Way, we extend a heartfelt thank you to all Bremer employees who worked together to support our communities during this critical time,” said John Wilgers, president and CEO of Greater Twin Cities United Way. “Their generosity will make an enormous impact on the lives of those in our communities most vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19.”
The optional employee giving campaign, driven by more than 150 Bremer employees, and additional funds committed by Bremer Bank resulted in a $100,000 donation. These funds will ensure that people most vulnerable to issues caused by the pandemic have safe shelter, food and hygienic supplies; parents can locate affordable childcare; and that families and individuals can access important financial and health care services. United Way distributes funds to nonprofit health and human services organizations.
“Bringing people together during an unprecedented public health crisis is the mark of true leadership. We are grateful to United Way for their leadership, partnership and for getting this critical fund up and running so quickly,” said Jeanne Crain, Bremer president and CEO. “I also want to thank our Bremer employees who have risen to the occasion to help their neighbors.”
