Bremer Bank announces Chief Strategy Officer

10.09.18

Bremer Financial Corporation President and CEO Jeanne Crain has announced the creation of a chief strategy officer position to advance the organization’s development of specialized customer solutions and digital capabilities.

Dan Flaningan has been promoted to this position and will oversee information technology, digital delivery, data and customer insights, and strategy development. Previously, Flaningan served as corporate treasurer and director of strategy. Prior to joining Bremer in 2014, he was a senior vice president at Alumina Investment Management and a vice president at the Carlyle Group. Flaningan has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Case Western Reserve University and a master’s in business administration from Youngstown State University.

“It’s gratifying to be a part of a forward-thinking, agile organization during this time of unprecedented change in the financial services industry,” said Flaningan. “I’m excited about the opportunity we have to accelerate the development of new tools and digital capabilities to enhance our customers’ experience doing business with us, while helping them gain efficiencies and reach their financial goals.”

In addition, two senior executive roles have been expanded to support business growth and the customer experience. Mitch Bleske, Bremer’s chief financial officer, will have expanded responsibilities to include executive oversight of Bremer’s commercial, agriculture, mortgage, insurance and wealth management teams. In addition, Tom Rickers will assume responsibility as executive vice president of consumer banking and operations.

“I’m fortunate to have an exceptional group of leaders on the Bremer executive team who share a clear vision for our future and the value of putting customers at the center of our business decisions,” said Crain. “The organizational changes that we are implementing will help us be even more nimble and efficient as we build and deliver solutions to address our customers’ needs.”
